    Hi,
I am going to spent the day in Glendalough, i am looking at busservices to Glendalough from innercity Dublin, but so far i haven't had any luck. I saw one bus, St. Kevins, but they arrive at midday or so in Glendalough, and i really want to arrive early. Are there any services going there? Thanks in advance.

St. Kevins is, and always has been - I think - the only bus service to Glendalough.
The only other alternative is Bus Eireann to Rathdrum or Ashford and a taxi to Glendalough - but that could work out to be expensive - and then there'd be the return trip etc as I assume you can't use a BE ticket on St. Kevins.

    St. Kevin's bus timetable here:

    http://www.glendaloughbus.com/timetable.aspx

Bus Éireann/CIÉ Tours also operate a day trip from Dublin to Glendalough and Powerscourt:

    https://194.106.151.95/asp/TourDetailView.asp?TOUR_CODE=C%2ED%2E1&SEASON_ID=502

Not sure what days this runs on, or what the layover time is, I think it leaves Busáras around 10:00 in the morning.

the taxi would be too expensive, i never mind hitching, but not in this area, with all these girls that dissapeared years ago, am weary of that. thanks anyway

Thanks, i want to spent as much time as possible in glendalough and this trip is with Powercourt, have no interest in that at all, its a pity that there is no service from Rathdrum to Glendalough, wouldn't kill to do that.
It looks like i won't get there easily, might go to newgrange instead, and wait till summer when the services are a bit better.

The service won't be any better in the summer.
If you want to be in Glendalough early stay there at the Royal Hotel.

The Wicklow Way bus service runs from Rathdrum railway station to Glendalough. It is integrated with certain trains to/from Dublin.

    Timetable here:http://www.wicklowwaybus.com/Glendalough-Glenmalure%20Route.html

It's important to read the terms & conditions as if there's not enough intending passengers it doesn't run (unless the other passenger/s are willing to pay the balance in the fare).

I can't imagine there would be many using the above service at this time of year. It's a good idea though.

    LOL, you are pushing it.
If the passengers have to make up the fair, then not likely they accept travel passes.
But why not give it a try and report back, could be interesting.
Good luck anyway, it seems very complicated to get to GLendalough with the bus.
Unless you have a lot of money.

It's not complicated to get there by bus, as has been said the St Kevins Bus would get you there direct from Dawson Street to the visitor centre. That'd give you 3.5 hours there which is plenty to do the two lakes, Tower/ Church/ Grave yard, Vistor centre. The complication is that the timetable doesn't suit you.

As well as the Hotel in Glendalough, there's a youth hostel. In Laragh you have Lynhams. Laragh and Glendalough have a rake of B&B's. I'd say staying is the only option to give you a full day.
