Serious band looking for guitarist, strings or brass

    We are a Blanchardstown-based band looking for a lead guitarist and other musicians. We are currently a four piece and are looking for extra musicians to round out our sound.

    Our first album is nearly fully finished and will be released in Spring, which will hopefully kickstart a very busy time for us.

    We are doing quite well and have some big gigs lined up, including a foreign tour next summer.

    What we need from you:

    • Be committed. We practice at least once a week and try to play gigs as much as possible. (obviously there will be times when there are more-touring etc)

    • Be aware of what’s expected. Being in the band is both a time and money commitment. For our foreign trips, we pay for ourselves, we need you to be aware of that. As far as the music goes, know that we have developed a sound and, while every member of the band makes a contribution, we need you to be comfortable playing our stuff.

    • Be aged 19-27. This is the age profile of the band and it just makes sense.

    • Be easy to get along with. We’re generally a pretty laid back band and like to have a laugh. We take the band seriously, but we have fun.

    • For guitarists; Be good on guitar, but not a guitar hero. The guitarist who’s leaving, because of personal commitments, is very good at what he does. While he can shred with the best of them, he gets what we’re doing and doesn’t try to be shoe horn solos etc in.

    • To be honest, we’re not looking for Satriani, Slash or Young.

    Our influences are bands like Augustana, Dashboard Confessional. The stuff we play is fairly melodic and we need someone who is interested in doing something like that.

    Also, I’m aware there’s a lot in the ad and some of it might sound arseholey, but it’s best to be specific and avoid any confusion. There's nothing worse than a non-specific ad.

    Hi there,

    I like the ad. It's honest.

    I am 24 years old, I live in Dublin, I drive and am looking for something serious. I play an American Fender Telecaster through a VOXAC30. A nice clean, clear, chimey, ambient sound. Similar to your previous guitarist I can rip it up when needed but having grown up a bit I tend to accompany the band/song as opposed to needlessly soloing. I'm just completely over that crap, there is no room for the guitar solo in today's music. The song is what matters. I am quite aware on the music scene as I have been writing for GoldenPlec.com and know some bands currently gigging a lot around Ireland and the UK.(ie Kodaline)

    I have played in a handful of bands, maybe 3 or 4. Gigged an adequate amount I would imagine.
    Very comfortable on the guitar and with writing with a group/other person.

    More importantly than that I am easy going and friendly, fond of a few jars and playing music!

    I work as a bartender but issues with regard gigging/touring are resolved easily as I have been there for 8 years and am currently on a part-time basis.
