    Hi

I am engaged and been told I will have to do a pre-marriage course to get married in a church

I have done some research online and see some places offer group sessions and private sessions for just one couple at at time

Can anyone advise which option is better, a group session or a one to one or does it even matter?

    Thanks

It depends what you wish to get out of it, we were together 12 years before we got married- so had discussed all issues over the years, so we found it to be a tedious 2 days
On saying that there was a couple beside us together 11 months and they were fighting about every issue that was discussed! Everything from children to birth control!!
Felt after going through the group it was a waste of time, didn't speak to either facilitators at all.

What may also matter is whether the priest/minister marrying you has a requirement - some require you to do a particular course, e.g. Accord - so you mightn't have the choice. Check that first.

Other than that it's probably a personal choice - if you fancy the slightly more anonymous option of being in a group that might be easier for ye, or you might get more out of a more "intimate" one on one session, and it might be a little shorter and more intense. We did a group session and got on ok to be honest .

    Edit: Congratulations!
