    Hi Folks
We have a silver crest receiver and dish. Has been working fine up until the last few weeks. We suddenly get a no signal message and no channels work. Then unexpectedly without trying to fix it maybe after a day or two, but sometimes after an hour its back working again with strength and quality showing about 90%. My guess is there is a bad connection in the attic where I had to join a cable on to the one that the electrician put in that goes to rear of tv.
Would this explain this kind of behaviour
Receiver and dish is about 2 years old

    Cheers

You can see how to fit f-connectors properly & use them with a coupler to join cables on this page.

    Thanks Peter,
So you reckon its the connection where I joined the cables thats faulty?. But it has worked for so long fine? would it be normal for them to go belly up like that? Connection is in attic space. Good instructions on that web thanks. I didn't use silicone grease:(

I've never used the grease myself, either, & haven't had any problems. I honestly don't know what's causing your problem (nobody could at this remove), but I've seen a fair few cable terminations poorly done by others.

    Thanks Peter,

Got that sorted. connection was ever so slightly loose in attic.
lets just blame the fellas that put insulation in the attic recently!
    thanks
