I have an Acer laptop, the motherboard is fired, everything else is perfect.

Do any of the laptop repair places buy machines like this for the parts, or do I just throw it on Ebay ?

If you're prepared to go to the trouble of breaking the machine yourself you could do quite well out of Ebay. There's always a good market for screens and hard drives. Keyboards and plastics may take a little longer to shift. If you put it on Adverts or try and sell it to a shop keep in mind that whoever buys it has to make a clear profit on it afterwards so don't be surprised if you get some really low ball offers. There are some shops that may give you a decent deal against a new machine if you use your own as trade in and will even lift your old data from your existing hard drive and put it on your new machine for you.
