Irish Triton heating elements different to UK?

    Hi all,

The heating element is gone in my T90SI shower. I rang a crowd in the UK to ask about the element - as they have 7.5, 8.5 and 9.5kW listed, but I have no idea which one mine is. They guy I spoke to said that the parts they list are for UK showers, and that they are incomparible with Irish showers?

This seems odd...is it some sort of 'we're not allowed to sell to the Irish market' type thing...I find it hard to believe that they made different heating elements for the two markets?

If the parts are indeed the same between the 2 areas, any idea how to tell which rating my element is?

    Thanks!

If you remove the front cover there is a data sticker on the inside, that will give you the rating.
It could be that the UK part is made for 240v while here we have 230v (if your lucky), that small difference in voltage will effect wattage, i know if you use a uk model here you wont get the rating on the product.

The warning sticker on the bottom of the unit will tell you what kilowatt the shower is. Yes the uk have 240 volt rating. In Ireland its 230 volt. T90si is either 8.5kw or 9.5kw. Maybe cheaper to get parts in Ireland also.

Ah, thanks, I was looking all over the heating element for a rating, never even thought to look on the shower itself...d'oh! If the only difference between the UK and Ireland elements is the expected voltage, then there no real problem in using a UK element. It might run slightly below the rated heat output, but I can live with that (If the UK supplier works out to be cheaper of course!).
