Have I ordered Tax Certificate Correctly?

    Hi all,

I just started a new job and as I am unable to get a P45 from my last employer, I was told to apply for a new tax certificate by the temp company I am working for.

They gave me the tax office's telephone number and the employers number and I applied to have a tax certificate sent to me via the automated system on the telephone.

It has now been 20 days and I have not received anything. Although I am aware this could be standard waiting times, would I be foolish in filling out a 12A form and sending it in? I'm not sure whether I've done something wrong or I'm just being impatient (as always).

If anyone could shed some light on this it would be greatly appreciated!

If everything was in order, a cert would have issued within 48 hours. You do not need to send in a 12A as that is for your very first employment ever.
Ring your local paye area and speak to someone.

Apologies in the delay in replying and thanks for getting back to me. I realised that my employer sent me the wrong district office phone number as they believed I live in Dublin so my application would have fallen on deaf ears. I am going to call my local office tomorrow and sort it out. Will the emergency tax I have paid so far be automatically refunded at some time down the line or will I have to apply for it? Many thanks again for your reply!

Once your tax credits are sorted, the refund should come through on your next payslip.
