Diabetes life insurance

Recently needed life insurance to cover mortgage, type 1 diabetic and got fully loaded (but covered) on it,quote was for 50 euro and ended up paying 115 and this was taking the mortgage protection cover for to keep costs down, anyone out there doing good deals on this. Can I get life insurance abroad cheaper?
