How likely is it my girlfriend is pregnant and would pregnancy explain her other symp

Hi boards, a very anxious and flustered boyfriend here hoping you can help.

Started seeing my girlfriend a month ago (start of October) and things are great. Had sex for the first time around the 9th of October as she had been on her period (no condom, she was on the pill) and ejaculated inside her. This happened a few more times and she got the morning after pill on the 14th of October. On the 18th/19th October she had bleeding which we assume was a MAP induced period, though this is odd as her last period began on the 4th October.

Shortly after the bleed she noticed a numbness in her arms and legs and has since been to the doctor for an MRI and X-Rays to investigate what is happening, both have come back inconclusive though she is to receive more results today.

This is the scary part though. Over the last few weeks we have been actively having sex with ejaculation inside her (she has remained on the pill) but last night she took a pregnancy test which has come back positive.

Her usual period was due on the 2nd - 4th of November, however with the MAP induced one it could possibly not be due until the end of this week.
My question is how likely is it that her symptoms are caused by a pregnancy? For clarities sake the symptoms experienced are:

Numbness in arms/legs
Exhaustion
SEVERE
cramping
Pain in right ovary, general womb area
Breast Tenderness
Irratibility/Mood swings

Ignore the symptoms and all the rest of your post.

You have a positive pregnancy test. Go out and buy two more. If they're positive, then she's pregnant.

You get false negatives, but not false positives.

She's in the hospital later today for more results re the other symptoms, she's going to explain to the doctor and get a test done there. Just currently in total freakout mode.

For all practical purposes, yes. False positive do occur, but they're exceptionally rare.

Just make sure you're doing the test properly. Some tests will eventually come up positive if you leave them sitting on the desk for a long while. If the test comes up positive within the time mentioned on the leaflet, then it's positive.

Forget all the shop bought tests. She's having other serious unrelated symptoms too so tell the doctor everything and let them assess her. Additionally, if she has been for MRIs that is dangerous for a pregnancy.

Actually all of the symptoms would be quite consistent with a pregnancy, however in any case I would recommend she attends the doctor to confirm that they are all pregnancy-related.

MRI is perfectly safe in pregnancy, you're probably thinking of a CT or X-Ray, however as with all procedures you must inform the hospital if you are or think you are pregnant before you begin.

I agree with Seamus, a positive is a positive.

Sometimes a test if left to dry out shows whats known as an evaporation line - where the second line becomes visible. That's why they tell you to discard the test after an allotted time frame, usually 10 mins or so.

The pregnancy tests measure HCG which is usually only in the body in the event of a pregnancy or if you are on certain fertility injections. So she is very likely pregnant.

She MUST discuss this with the doctors.
