    Hi All
I am a Meteor customer and have noticed a huge decline in the quality of their 3G network over the last 6-8 months. Instead of getting better, its getting worse. I've experienced this issue all over the country. It does not seem to be a coverage issue as there is quite often full 3G coverage with no connectivity.

I have exhausted all avenues through their support, turning the phone on and off does not work !

This appears to be an issue with the network itself, it takes a lot of work to get a "H" icon on my phone (indicating HSDPA traffic flow)

Could other Meteor customers affected by the similar issues please post their experiences here, in a collective bid to get something done

I have to agree with you the reception lately is really bad,so bad I am considering changing networks as it has actually cost me money.(using the sat nav for delivery purposes)

Have actually brought my phone into meteor shops and all they have tried to tell me was that there must be a problem with the antenna on my phone. Not true tho as I have used an 02 sim and it worked perfectly.

Have to think hard and long before I get a new phone and lock myself into an 18 month contract

I'm using the 3g mobile broadband dongle service and I swear its just getting worse and worse by the day. It keeps going to Edge and even the likes of gmail take a couple of minutes to load, I'm thinking of just cancelling the service and going with someone who actually can provide what you pay for. I've seen thread after thread on the Meteor forum about their customer support being ridiculous and about the signal and speeds people are getting.

Would anyone recommend any alternative providers? There is no excuse for a bad signal either as I'm right in the center of Dublin city where I can clearly see well over 50 locked networks yet the one I'm paying for might as well be dial up.

Yup, same for me. I'd be lucky to touch on 3g once or twice in the day. Living in Limerick and working in Shannon, while in limerick I do get the odd 3g signal but once I hit the road to work, not a hope of it.

I just signed up to postpay Meteor mobile broadband yesterday and I'm getting download speed of 4-5 Mbs which is brilliant. I do notice however that the 3G icon which was on the huawei yesterday has now been replaced by a H but the speeds are still equivalent ?

    HSPA 3g HSUPA WCDMA

there the ones you want, once it goes to edge then your back to the dark ages

I don't really have an issue with 3g the odd day or two it might be a bit dodge but a reset sorts it

I suspect that that was the maximum network throughput at the time. I suspect if you try that again at 3am then it would be much faster.
Most masts have a microwave relay system which maxes out when lots of phones/3g dongles are connected.

Meteor PAYG mobile broadband may be a good option. I am using their service and it is quite good considering I live 3 miles from the village. I was paying €20/month for 7.5gb and have now signed up to a 50gb for €13.33/m offer.

If you do not need a landline then mobile BB will work out much cheaper for light usage.

Cant find anything remotely near that offer on their website, did you get it instore, even a 2yr contract doesn't give you any thing like that deal.

Sorry small mistake in my maths, the real cost is €18.73/m.

To get that deal you will need to go in-store as it is NOT online. The offer I took out is €25.40 for 30 GB 18 month contract.

The Meteor website is out of date and the 30GB package is now called unlimited which has a usage allowance of 50GB.
In-store I was offered €10 off per month for the first 12 months, thus taking the overall deal to €18.73/m. Thats 18x25.40-€120
