Hi guys, I'm in a bit of a dilemma. It's not a serious issue at all compared to others, but could do with advice.

I applied for a job recently for christmas and got called for interview. I couldnt make the interview because of an appointment but the manager had no problem and said they would arrange for their colleague to contact me at the start of the week to re-arrange. Over a week later, I heard nothing.

I really want this job and figure I had a good shot of getting it. Im considering ringing tomorrow and asking if the position is still open and if I could be interviewed. My problem is, the manager rang me of their mobile. There is a shop number as its a very well known company, but I figure my chances of speaking to this manager directly would be through their mobile. Would that be very inappropriate, but on the other hand, it is the number they contacted me with.

Best bet is to ring the shop and ask to speak to the manager. If they're not there leave a message and tell them you hope to hear back.

Calling them on their mobile might be a bad move.

Ring the shop first and ask to speak to the manager.

If you can't reach them or they don't return you calls, you may have to consider using the mobile number.

I would only use the mobile as a last resort and at that stage you'll have nothing to lose.

    Good luck.

I'd say they interviewed a few people for the position and if they haven't called you back to be interviewed they are most likely already after hiring some one for the job.

    I'd leave it.

What has he got to lose by trying to follow this up? Absolutely nothing. OP, this may well be the case but chance it anyway.

    +1

Just ring the mobile number, if the job is gone its gone, ringing on the mobile number is gonna change that!

First try ringing the shop and asking to speak to the manager.

If that doesn't work, then try the mobile number (but I'd do it during regular working hours).

It can't hurt to follow up, but I wouldn't jump straight to using the mobile number.

I would ring the mobile number, he obviously uses it for business so I wouldn't have an issue with ringing it.
