getting a room or safe alarm might not the best way to go if nobody outside can hear it,can you get the house alarmed? if not alarm companies can put an outside bell for you attached to your room/safe alarm.plenty of diy kits out there, get one that dials you mobile at least you will know if it gets tampered with and you can call a neighbour gardai.

Get yourself a wireless free house alarm.
Cheap enough and easy to install, a DIY job. You only need the one that has a couple of sensors.
Yale do one as do many others. Get it from B&Q, Woodies, or online.

Spot on, I have the yale wire free unit, sensors for all windows and PIR's for the rooms, two alarm boxes, will call the first 10 numbers you specify on your phone,ie if the first primary person say yourself does not answer the phone when the alarm is activated, it will ring the next person you have delegated and so on up to ten numbers until someone answers, you can record any message you want when phone is rung when alarm is activated, great job for under 400 euro, and very loud

Heres a package that may interest some people. Can always be added to and extra sensors installed to suit your particular requirements

Its €25 a month for monitoring after installation and you get 2 service calls during the year also

You are better off saving your 25 euro a month and monitoring the alarm yourself, all they will do is contact the gardai, the gardai will not come any quicker by them phoning them, by you and a number of family or friends will do just as good and get better response

They ring you or up to 8 nominated numbers first to check whether the alarm is genuine or not. My brother-in-law activated the alarm by mistake one day and they rang me before he could.
