aircraft "zigzag" flight tracks

    Just looking at a few live flight tracks of planes heading from east coast USA to Asia destinations going north. Most of the tracks are quite. marked zigzags - why would this be?

    The aircraft are not flying like that. Most likely computer error either software or something else.

    ridiculous zigzag or just not in a straight line? polar routes might be waypoint-to-waypoint if they're outside radar coverage so that atc is able to provide positive separation. north atlantic routes have specific tracks defined every day to bypass this potential problem.
