After a fairly anti climatic fall marathon season the last big one of the year is on in 3 weeks. Elite field seems solid enough to be interesting to see how Martin Mathathi debuts and also the rivalry between Yuki Kawauchi and Arata Fujiwara.

    Haile Gebrselassie (Ethiopia) - 2:03:59
    Dmytro Baranovskyy (Ukraine) - 2:07:15
    Isaac Macharia (Kenya) - 2:07:16
    Henryk Szost (Poland) - 2:07:39
Arata Fujiwara (Miki House) - 2:07:48
Yuki Kawauchi (Saitama Pref.) - 2:08:37
    James Mwangi (Kenya/Team NTN) - 2:08:38
Yoshinori Oda (Team Toyota) - 2:09:03
    Cyrus Njui (Kenya/Team Hitachi Logistics) - 2:09:10
Hiroyuki Horibata (Team Asahi Kasei) - 2:09:25
    Harun Njoroge (Kenya/Team Komori Corp.) - 2:09:38
Frank de Almeida (Brazil) - 2:12:03
    Cuthbert Nyasango (Zimbabwe) - 2:12:08
Martin Mathathi (Kenya/Suzuki Hamamatsu AC) - debut - 58:56 half marathon
    Mohamed Trafeh (U.S.A.) - 1:00:39 half marathon
others expected from cancelled ING New York City Marathon
    Andrew Lemoncello (GBR) - 2:13:40
Yusei Nakao (Suzuki Hamamatsu AC) - 2:14:43

Hopefully can see something special after disappointment of no NYC and the "odd" finish of Berlin

From what I've seen of the man I'd love to see Yuki Kawauchi win this, I've no idea whether he can / will. He's certainly got the PB to challenge them all apart from Haile but his marathoning has been erratic enough of late, so who knows what'll happen.

Any chance this will be on TV? Didn't see any mention of it on Eurosport anyway.

A DNF from Haile and no start from Martin Lel. Decent running from Scott Overall.

Last place was 2.49.27 with the guy going through the half in 73.28 but running over 6.40 kilometers by the end!

Check out the number of DNFs. I would love to run this marathon.

I thought you had to be doing 2.46 pace or your pulled? There is an appeal to having to watch you back and dig in even when you hurting just to make sure you are allowed to finish the race alright

All major marathons should be like this. However money talks as they say.

Looks like he was ahead of 2.46 pace until after the 40km check point so no chance to pull him.

Just had another look and 2 guys logged a 40km split but were DNF so I guess they were still pulling people at that point. That has to hurt!
