    HI there,
It will pull it, no problem, will it stop it? Is your 188 a square axle model? I would not personally be pulling a low-loader+digger behind a dry brake tractor. Also you need hydraulic brakes on the trailer/low-loader. You can use a spool valve to operate the brakes, not sure how legal this method is, so you may find me un-contactable in the event of an accident! People with such a system seldom use the ractor brakes at all, usng the trailer brakes to stop the outfit. Iver in Cavan

If your's is a multi-power tractor, the trailer brakes are even more important....

having said all that, a neighbour buought a5 tonne mini digger from Cavan to Sligo behind a Caddy..............

All MF 188 have wet brakes , will it pull it - it probily will but ya wouldnt want to meet any hills- it will pull away down in the gears- ya may need a set of front weights on the tractor if the trailer is a single axle

Yes my trailer has a single axle and it looks like i will need a set of weights how does the trailer brakes on the spool valve could i not put in a trailer braking system on the tractor?? Thanks again for the advice!!

Is there working brakes on your trailer, I mean are the shoes and operating linkages OK? If your trailer had a lorry axle, these can be converted to hydraulic operation with the fitting of 2 small rams to the actuating levers on the axle. Then connect to a spool valve. Your tractor has wet brakes, but the tractors own pressurised hydraulic system does not activate the brakes, so you cannot link to your trailer this way. You might be as well looking for a small Ivor Williams plant trailer with working brakes, could be as handy in the long run.
Here is alink to thekind of thing I mean.

Thanks for the advice Iver ill look at getting them for my trailer, it would also be handy to have the proper braking system on the tractor to operate the hydraulic brakes.

i dont know if it would be a good idea to use the tractors hydraulics through a spool valve for trailer brakes, trailer brake valve lowers the tractors hyd pressure to 2000psi the hyd press on a 188 is 3000 psi.

just put a variable valve in line and only allow enough psi to trigger the trailer brakes

5 ton digger plus weight of the trailer being pulled by a caddy... thats outright madness, how did he manage the hills
