Made an error re Tax credits

Can anyone give advice,
My son was diagnosed with Autism and I applied last week for the Dependant relatives tax credit for backdated 4 years on the ROS site. I received a letter on Friday that this was successful and a cheque would be issued.

I since found out today that you cannot received the incapacitated child tax credit if you are in receipt of the Dependant relative tax credit.

So I was wondering if I could cancel my request for the dependant relative credit and apply for the incapacitated child tax credit

Does a child with autism fall into the following:

The tax credit can be claimed where a claimant proves that he or she has living with them at any time during the tax year any child who is permanently incapacitated either physically or mentally from maintaining himself/herself and is maintained by the claimant.

Just fill in the form - send to your tax office and ask for dependent relative tax credit to be removed at the same time

Thanks I rang them and they will remove the credit, thatnks for that
