A/R Boards Xmas Beers - Date and Venue ideas

    I'll probably get lynched for doing this so early but we need to start looking at dates and venues for this one. Its also a good chance to let people know about it before the Post Marathon glare fully dies off and the forum quitens down

    This is just a thread to get feedback on options and from there we can create polls regarding dates and venues.

    Ill leave it open till next monday so any ideas on locations and venues are welcomed.

    In terms of dates the two that come to mind are;

    1st Dec (After Waterford Half and Jingle Bells so probably alot of peoples last target race before the new year)

    8th Dec

    In terms of last year it was O Reilly's and ended up having a decent crowd at it so hopefully even more can make it this time. And for anyone who is afraid of not knowing anyone this is a great chance to put faces to names and is open to all, with everyone more than welcome

    In terms of locations I would suggest Dublin simply as a result of logistics however if us Jackeens are in he minority in attendance this can obviously be change (Yes there is the odd shred of democracy in this dictatorial state of moderators:D)

    Good Stuff Ecoli. The 8th is probably out for a lot of us as a certain Boardsie is having his 60th (I think ;)) that night and a lot of the people from last years xmas do are going to that...
    The 1st or 15th might be better. I hear CL's self imposed booze ban is up at the end of November so it could be quite a scene on the 1st :pac:

    8th or 15th suits me. :pac:

    The Wicklow version of this is organized for Sat 29th Dec. All welcome. It'll be preceded with a trail run, lake swim, and trail bike, meet back at the Glenmalure Lodge for drinks. Runners welcome (although we'll likely spike your drink with Triathlon DNA), details here.

    Any update?

    Meant to update this the other day. Seems like 15th is probably a winner but Ill throw poll up anyway.

    In terms of Venues got no recommendations so ill throw out a few ideas and if anyone else has ideas fire away;

    Mercantile
    O Reillys
    The Porter house
    The Czech Inn
    Doyles
    Long Stone
    McTurcails

    Porterhouse is very loud. Have some consideration for digger.

    Good point plus quite crowded for getting spots for large groups

    You're just copying last years options ;)
    They were picked because of Krustys beer snobbery, but then he didn't even show up :rolleyes:

    I can't talk either, I was all on for going but something popped up at the last minute. I'll vote and will definitely go if I can

    I've already voted but messers is probably a good shout as well. Can usually get a table in there if you're early enough getting in.

    O'Reilly's is close to busaras. Just pull an all nighter and get first bus home.

    Also O'Neills on Suffolk Street. Great spot (and includes crap beers, for those with no taste-buds). Can't make this years beers either (boo!). Down in Kilkenny on the night of the 8th, work xmas party on the 14th and county senior xc on the Sunday. Whatever happened to xmas beers at xmas?!

    Messers has been having a bit of Nama trouble. Some impromptu closures and re-openings.

    I think so I am unavailable with work (missing this and two other parties that night as a result)

    Unless someone wants to take up the mantle and organise last min something. If no we could probably arrange something in the new year (perhaps after Raheny or something as many posters tend to do this race)

    Three parties in the one night......that would have been ..... interesting :eek:

    All the cool people are actually going to Dungarvan this year :p

    Now that it's official that this forum can't organize a piss-up in a brewery (or anywhere else), a loving reminder from your good friends on the Tri forum, that all unisporters are welcome to our drinks in deepest Wicklow on the 29th. There's a few from here coming along, the swim isn't mandatory (but you have to buy a round for all those who do swim; I did mention that to you BeepBeep didn't I?):D
