THAT guy

There's one thing that I agree with Pat McQuaid about. That Texan no longer has any place in cycling. However, on this and many other fora, he seems to be up near the top in terms of discussion topics. I understand that the outfall from his cheating is a topic that cannot be ignored - and I'm not for one second suggesting we forget about that era and the problems that spawned there - but I sick of the oxygen that is given to HIM in so many online locations.

So, can I appeal to boards users to leave him in the past?

    Refrain from retweeting his tweets,
Refrain from bumping the threads with his name in the titles
Refrain from linking to pics of him lounging in his cheaters cave with his ill-gotton yellow jerseys,
Refrain from even mentioning his name.

Suck the publicity from him that he still craves. Leave him where he belongs, isolated in the past.

There are far better things to be discussing in cycling and young cyclists to be following (Martin, Phinney, Kittel etc etc ) so any chance that we can just leave the dinosaur in the past and let him rot there.........?

    +1 for irony.

THAT guy should never be forgotten in the world of cycling. He should be raised on a pedestal higher than ever before but only to highlight him as the biggest cheat in the history of the sport. Those who forget about history are destined to repeat it. Ii agree that he should be consigned to history but he should remain in people's minds as an example of how dirty the sport was/is. Not mentioning him is the same tactic as his deluded followers, sticking your fingers in your ears and pretending nothing happened.

Indeed. I don't think that people say to ignore Hitler or the holocaust. Indeed, it's even illegal to deny the holocaust in many countries.

I agree totally with the main post....We should start a campaign to get everyone to Unfollow him on Twitter. I could say a lot more about him but I don't like posting foul language.

    :D

In fairness, the most likely place to see a story about Lance Armstrong is at the top of a cycling forum innit, so maybe try one of the many other (equally interesting I'm sure....) sections on boards.

Either that or take a holiday man, I dunno.:D

Are you being ironic or just provocative?

The WHOLE POINT of this thread is that LA has grabbed far too much of the collective headlines for too long.

Far too much of our time is still being absorbed by his irrelevance. He is history, past, gone, toasted - I want folks to leave him where he belongs and stop allowing him to make the storyline........... Continuing to talk about him just feeds his status as a wrong-doer.

Imagine that he has a counter that records how many times he is mentioned in a given day...........now, try to make it read zero. Got it?

If you're angry that people are talking about something you don't like on the internet then just ignore it.

For the record, his continued relevance stems from the fact that he is the sword hanging over the head of the UCI. If you wish to exonerate them and join the ever growing list of riders towing the 'it's all in the past' line, go ahead and do it. I for one don't, and want to see Kimmage ram him and his insidious past down their throat.

If you need a reason NOT to feed this fcukers ego, here it is.......your feeding his pockets. LA 1 - 0 everyone else. He must be pissing himself laughing....

I this person's name an anagram of "clean". The ironing.

But, since the letters are all rearranged, could we describe it as 'un-clean'?

Maybe a support group for all those who cannot stop talking about 'that guy' Might help !
But I usually find that if you want to ignore something then its best to do just that ...eventually it catches on....critical mass and all that

As for Lance Armstrong ...well I think as long as there are issues unanswered and lessons to be learned... let the talking continue
