Hi guys, I have always wanted to do some sort of evening course or class over a few weeks that teach how deal with injurys in emergency's / what to do etc. Is there anything like this in galway? All that I can find on google are just college courses and thats not exactly what im looking for.

Any help would be great thanks.

Hi there, perhaps a basic life support course would be of use? http://www.firstaid.ie/product/bls-for-healthcare-providers-adult-and-paediatric

Drop by the fire station on Fr Griffin road tonight (Monday) at 8pm as it's the Galway city Civil Defence's meeting night. They run various first aid courses. Now they might be full up and in the middle of a course at the minute but someone there might be able to point you in a right direction.

    This too shall pass.

Order of Malta, Irish Red Cross and Civil Defence all have courses, not sure if there's anything on at the moment.

    Also try http://www.citizencpr.ie/index.php?page=galway

OP, what you are looking for is called "first aid". Google that for lots of options.

    It won't make you a medic (even a basic one :) )

It will make you able to cope with situations until skilled help is available.

Thats you're best advise. If you actually join a unit too you will get great experience. PHECC also deliver a basic first responder course.

Yep +1 for the Order of Malta again, there are units in Mervue and Galway City anyway.
