Private Coach Operators

Don't want to name the towns involved because it would identify the operator but...A Coach company have a route advertized that goes daily from A-Z and picks up passengers at various points in between, so someone gets on the bus at point V and wants to travel to point Z but the driver says that the bus is only going to go to point X tonight because there are only 4/3/2 people going to Z. Are they within their rights to do so? I presume they are granted a licence from the Department Of Transport to operate the route in it's entirety and not to pick and choose which days the service will terminate at W or X? I will ask these questions of the DOT but am posting here in case someone with experience of how this works is looking on.

They are operating a licenced service and advertise service between A and Z so they should be serving all advertised stops.

You need to talk to the bus licensing section of the National Transport Authority http://www.nationaltransport.ie/taxi-and-bus-licensing/bus/

Bear in mind that if this is private operator in a rural area providing a service that BE do not - that you may be cutting off your nose to spite your face - by going direct to DOT.
Perhaps a word with the owner to the behaviour of the drivers might be a better first step ?
