Pheasant Hunting (New to hunting in Ireland)

    Hi,

My friend and I are interested in hunting pheasants in January. We have hunted in North America but never in Ireland, so we have no gear or shotguns.

I am aware of the packaged hunts offered by families and companies. Are there more affordable options for students? Perhaps less grand accommodations and none of the fancy extras? Just a weekend full of hunting, field dressing, and that's it?

Also, regarding licensing for game and firearms, do these places usually provide the shotgun and ammo for a fee? Do you need a firearms license if you're borrowing the guide's gun for example?

    Thanks for your help!
