    Hi all

Bit confused and getting mixed information.

Bought a second hand car 2 weeks ago, vrt was sorted by the dealer (UK import)

No log book, was told to expect it in the post. Been over 2 weeks now with no sign.

Can i tax the car before the log book comes, or was I supposed to tax it first and then somehow get the logbook from some sort of magical person who knows then to send it to me???

I was always under the impression that you wont get a VLC on a car imported or new car, until it's taxed.

The dealer should have gotten an RF100 when it was VRT'd, but you can download this from Motortax.ie, fill it out and go to the tax office.

Your PIN to tax online is the last 6 digits of the VIN. I taxed a UK import last week with no logbook.
