Christmas in a hotel in Ireland?

We're looking at this as maybe an option for Christmas this year.

It's five adults going, so no worries about Santa finding us.

Has anyone stayed in a hotel over Christmas before?

    Any suggestions or advice?

The main thing I'm worried about is not having access to turkey sandwiches and beer at three in the morning :pac:

Preferably within easy drive from Dublin .. in case there is a big snow.

From researching quickly online, cheapest seems to be about €299 for two days or can go way up to about €565 pps. But there does seem to be an awful lot of food included in all those prices.

Original plan was to get place with pool or spa, but limited opening times on leisure centres over Christmas... Not a fitness freak, just wanted to sit in jacussi and feel fat.

But to answer your question, didn't want to spend a celtic tiger fortune, but am open to options as regards place.

    Brook Lodge is also fantastic.

Located in Aughrim (foothills of the mountains)....and if you get snow it really is a fantastic, festive and romantic hotel to stay in.

Theres a facebook psgr - historic houses + castles, and then another - hidden ireland. They are full of interesting slots + deals!

We (16 of us) went to Dunboyne House in the run up to Christmas + they treated like offal. Rooms were freezing, service dreadful. The meals apart from the breakfast were really not up to standard + we got served our meal over an hour - some were jyst being served when others had long fi.ished - multiple mixed up orders, etc. Couldnt recommend it less.
Also on reflection the residents bar would shift in the course of an hour from one bar to another to another - ended up being told at 1am to go sit in their totally empty nightclub - nightmare. Couldnt recommend it less. + spent a lot of money on it.

I was at a weeks conference in the Neursmore (spelling?) At Christmas a few (5!) years back - great food + ser ice + very Christmassy - big open fires + trees everywhere. BUT i do recall that the Christmas meal was buffet + at 12 am!! Now we didnt stay for Christmas thou.
It had an 80s style spa + tellytubby golf course. Monaghan.

We ( 12 or 14) also has a bad exlerience at Lyrath the year it really snowed. Like- serious snow ( was that 2 years ago?) They insisted the hotel was open + that if we 12 didnt arrive as it was within 24 hours of the day all 12 fully paid meals + accommodations + spa fees would be forfeit in full.it was a nightmare when it shkuld have been a lovely weeke.d away + put huge stress on everyone . Wouldnt recommend here either - profit before u.forseen national emergency snow downpour. Not Impressed.

Try the two FB pages... they had some really georgous places.

We.stayed for a wedding.at the Radison in Cavan . AmAZING and I mean AMAZING spa. Breakfast was fantastic too. SET IN woodlands - perfect for walking off the trukey!!!they have cooool bathrooms with a glass wall looking out into the woods from the bath!!! Mega!

I suppose if you coukd survive y.til breakfast yoy'd be ok! Or you could bring an emergency kit bag of white bread, mayonise, carved turkey + cold beers!

Again - didnt stay there at Christmas. I wonder would the spa + in/ outdoor infinity pool be open ?
