    Hi guys,

First time to post here. I'm taking over a small family farm from my father who passed away recently. I have another job so it will be part time. My mother will receive all payments and profits until i take over in the new year.

She received the SFP in mid october but never received the DAS payment which i think was due in september. We have 18 bullocks. They were bought in march and april at approx 7 mths old.

Our local teagasc rep has told me we have the required number of cattle over 6 mths to have recieved payment. Because we havent i suggested do i need to contact the dept. He said i didnt as they have records of all cattle movements.

But if they have, how come we haven't received the payment yet? Do ye guys know what i should do or who i should contact?

Sorry i am new to this so haven't a clue. Appreciate any help at this stressful time?

    Thanks.

is the land in the disadvanyaged area? did ye get it last year?

    Hi Whelan1,

Yes it is in a disadvantaged area. We got it last year and every other year on time that's why I am worried. Could it be that the dealer we bought the cattle off didn't submit paper work to the department or something? I'm just guessing here, not sure how this works at all.

We had them tested in August and all ok.

    Thanks for your help.

afaik letters where sent out during the summer about stocking rate, i dont think it has anything to do with the dealer, was the das box ticked on the sfp form? ring your local dept of ag office and explain the situation to them, they should be able to put you in the right direction

Don't think we got any letter in the summer but not sure as my father was in very bad health then. The local teagasc guy usually took care of this along with the SFP once a year. Maybe he forgot to tick that box this year.

no need to use teagasc register fr agfood and you can see all your payments and forms there. it will be easy to see whats what.

    Hi dzer2,

The farm and herd no are in my fathers name so I can't do this just yet. I am waiting until this years payments are sorted then I will sort it out in the new year. Where do I register? Can I do it online?

    Thanks for the advice

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,965 ✭✭✭dzer2

You can do it on agfood.ie it doesnt matter if the herd no is in your fathers name just register with his name and get the pin number sent to your address you cant do anything but look at the forms and payments You will see the herd and tag numbers and see when they were moved in. I got my das back on the 24th sept

Give us a shout if I can help anymore

He will know if the box was ticked by teagasc and being forewarned is great when you ring the dept.

Thanks, I presume the Teagasc guy ticked the box like every other year. When I asked him he never said whether he did or not just said we should get it and the department would know we had the correct number of animals as they track all animal movement.

So should I go to him again first and then ring department? Yes whelan1 we got SFP no problem that's why I presume teagasc guy has done things correctly. Don't want to go accusing him but guess I will have to check with him again.

i would ring the dept, state your circumstances and that you want to know what the story is, at least then you will know, have your herd number ready

Got to your Teagasc guy and while you're there have him ring the Dept, easiest way of sorting it once they answer the phone

I've to do the same but my Teagasc guy was moved abroad to the midlands and his replacement was disappeared shortly after appointment so now I have no adviser!

Well i had a similar case, best thing that you can do is contact the department and see what the status is on it. What i was told was that the i have to wait until the minimum stocking rate is fulfilled, as soon as this is complete i will get paid the DAS.

Yeah, am just home from a meeting tonight. Gave my herd number to IFA and they will take it up. Heard some shocking stories out of the hills tonight. More destocking for them while others get to increase, contracts broken by dept, no monies being paid out. 67 farmers with commonages forced down to 3 sheep a piece under new rules. Go slow in Portlaoise, phones not answered, calls not returned. It's utter madness.

Not sure if this is of any use to you but .......

My uncle passed away in mid June, the DAS or SFP were'nt paid out as the system was flagged as he was deceased (even though we did'nt inform the dept at the time) Herd No etc all transferred now since end October.

I spoke to a lovely lady in the dept in portlaoise & she sent out a form for any monies due to my uncle to be paid to the solicitor, within 5 days of that form being submitted the SFP was released, we are still waiting on the DAS, they said that it could take few weeks as all DAS would be considered paid at present & next time a cheque run is done it will release again to the solicitor, I assume the same will happen for the 2nd SFP due in dec.

The Dept have now sent out a form to be signed in order to have everything set up for 2013.

    Thanks nhg, conmaicne mara, larthehar.

We got the first SFP in October so hopefully the account isn't frozen. I will talk to the Teagasc guy and see what he can do. Be interesting to know when the next cheque run is done as I would defenitely know if there was a problem if I didn't get the DAS money then.

If the money comes in I will then start transferring the herd no and everything over. Unfortunately I won't be able to get this done before the end of November so will miss out on the deadline for aeos3. Anyone know if this will be extended?

    Hi Famernewbie,

the dept reviewed all herd numbers in March againsta stocking rates and if you met it then you would get the DAS payment in Sept and not to worry if you had not stock then as they will be taking it again this month I believe and then if you had the stocking rates you will get the payment.
    Hope this helps

    Hi Tribe_Fox,

Super I think you have answered my question. As we only bought the cattle in March and April we wouldn't have qualified then. We have had them more then 6 months and are selling this week. Any idea when they are taking it this month or when the payments will be made?

Unfortunately farmernebie no idea of the finer details

I got the DAS payment from the solicitor today so there must have been a 'cheque run' in the last few days.

Hopefully you got yours as well.

Was it the single farm payment or the DAS payment which was made today?

DAS - as account had been frozen/flagged
