(post also on Clare thread, recommended to re-post here)

I'm working abroad and planning a long Xmas break at home with family. Flights are booked and I've now started looking at car rental, which is >€1000 for the 18 days!! (need family car for kids and luggage) Arriving and leaving from Dublin airport.

Does anybody know of a cheaper option ? (Walking not an option).

    Thanks, minnow

Is there anyone back home who might be prepared to lend you a motor (for a small consideration of course! ;))

Your renting at a very busy time of the year which means demand is high so rates will be higher than normal. I'd say try the likes of Enterprise, they are usually cheaper than the others.
