Timex cycle computer thoughts?

    Hi all,

Considering getting myself one of these timex cycle computer's. Has anyone on here got any experience of these? They seem to get good reviews online and the odd bad one (mainly because the speed / cadence sensors are sold separate, HRM is standard and speed is recorded via GPS). They are a good bit cheaper that the Garmin at €140 posted from the states.

What do ye think am I as well saving a few more weeks and getting a garmin or going ahead with this?

I expect you'll have to pay duty and VAT on that, making it more like €180.

Nope I'm not buying from timex direct, so its €140 after duty + vat.

I would hold out for the Garmin.

    Any other thought's

Or anyone say anything specific as to why I should hold out for the Garmin, what's better about the Garmin?

I'll not be getting the Timex, just in case anyone is interested (or searches and finds this thread) because strava doesn't support timex devices, that made my decision a lot easier, now to find a cheap 500 :o

I own a Garmin 405 and have a cadence gadget for the bike. Find it brilliant as it does the bike, running hiking and a simple watch. The Garmin software is very good too and easy to track spins and training on a laptop. Only fault I see is the battery life but you get used to charging it

You can convert the timex files and upload them into Strava or directly into Training Peaks if you use that..

I use a Times gps watch and as it's ANT+ it links in with the garmin speed cadence sensor (cheaper than timex own) and you have a choice of HR straps too.

Was in belfast with herself today and while shopping noticed chain reaction cycles in the corner, made the mistake of going in....

:o She wasn't best amused but she was in and done her shopping so I done mine. Was cheap too at £209 for the bundle kit.

Guess I won't be buying the timex then :pac:
