    How reliable are these cars? I've covered 30k kms this year, mostly motorway driving, in a VW Caddy DSG. Its not a nice place to be when doing so much mileage (windy windows, no a/c, no cruise control etc) so I'm going to change. I let my heart rule my heart briefly and considered an S class but I couldn't justify the tax on one of them so an E class was the next option. Ideally an avantgarde.

    From reading online I've learned early ones or pre 2006 ones suffer from electrical niggles, the SBC hydraulic unit is a common failure and the transmission oil needs to be replaced very frequently. Have I missed anything?

    Would love to hear from anyone who has had experience with one before.
