Alba B660, Sony dvd recorder RDR-HX750, G-link

I have just purchased an Alba B660 from Argos as my dvd recorder (Sony HDR-HX750) only has an analogue tuner and won't receive Saorview channels. It all works fine but I am trying to get the Sony G-link to control the channels on the Alba B660. I have worked through the setup on the Sony HDR-HX750 by selecting 'Alba' for the type of STB, and placing the G-link LED in front of the STB, but the Sony will not change channels on the STB.

I assume that the Alba B660 is a re-badged unit manufactured by another company. Would anyone know who makes the Alba as I can try selecting this make from the list on the Sony. I purchased the Sony in 2008 so not sure if a software upgrade may help.

    Maybe someone can help.
    Thanks.

    Try Vestal.

Thanks for the advice but Vestal is not on the list of STB manufacturers on the Sony setup procedure. Any other possibilities?

As a matter of interest - have you managed link up your Sony dvd recorder as a (kind of) hard drive? I can record the channel I'm watching onto mine but wondering if there is any way of using it instead of a usb stick or a hard drive???

Bush or Goodmans codes for STBs.

Thanks for all the help. Bush and Goodmans work but I also got Alba working in the end - it might have been the positioning of the G-link LED.

I haven't tried linking the Sony dvd recorder to the STB so that the STB EPG can be used instead of setting up the Sony manually each time. That would be nice but I don't see how.
