Touareg Tyre Advice

    Hi all,

My 2005 2.5L Touareg TDi is due new tyres. I currently have 4 X Continental 4X4 Contact 235/65 R17 108 V's on it and they have been fine. I've gotten 32,000 KM's out of them. http://www.camskill.co.uk/m56b0s5636p98900/Continental_Tyres_SUV_4x4_Continental_Conti4x4Contact_Continental_Conti_4x4_Contact_-_235_65_R17_108V_XL_%28N1%29_FR_TL_Fuel_Eff_%3A_E_Wet_Grip%3A_C_NoiseClass%3A_3_Noise%3A_73dB

I'm looking at the guts of €800 to replace them like for like so before I do I'd really appreciate the recommendations of fellow Boardsies who actually know something about this stuff.

The one thing I do know is that the tyres have to have a load rating of at least 108 meaning they have to be rated for at least 1,000 KG's due to the weight of the Touareg.

I'm not bothered too much about the profile and would be happy to change down to 30 or up to 40 if that would improve handling/braking/longevity and/or open up better value for money options.

I do understand the value of having good quality tyres so I don't want cheap cheap cheap but I do want the maximise value for money.

I used to have Falkens on a Saab and thought they were very good but maybe not appropriate for a Touareg??

    Cheers,

    Ben
