Unless you enjoy running through briars & swimming this time of year I'd say yes get a dog. ;)
What type is up to you
I take it you have a gun?

Whats wrong with going out with the club members?

Why do you need to go out on your own?

Surely if they have dogs they'ld be worth learning a thing or two off of, do they smell bad or something?

I enjoy going off on my own. I shoot a lot more 2 generally as 100% focused.
Get a springer & enjoy your season

+1 with EPointer i head out out on my own 90% of the time get your self a dog lad and get a few books on training ect might as well start as soon as you can a good dog is vital part of hunting game and having a loyal working dog brings its own rewards you will get massive satisfaction from watching your own dog work

You won't be on your own if you have a dog lad :D:D:D

Ah no sure if you have the time for a dog in general get one for huntings aswell but remember there is a lot of time in haveing a dog and exercising even when the season is over.
