    Hello all.
Anyone have experience of this way of dealing with rushes ?
This is in Wales and he's collecting and then dumping the rushes.

Compared to using the Quad-x for fine flailing and leaving the mulch behind:

Does this help to spread the seeds compaired to collecting & dumping them?

I assume in both cases, as soon as the rushes re-grow you would need to spray the new growth ?

I've seen it done locally. New rushes just grew back up again. The only way is to drain alnd and then spray or lick. Anything else a complate waste of time. I spot sprayed a lot of rushes but with this wet year, I see most are back up again.

Would depend on the rush growth/coverage.
We have a mulcher but just give it to whoever wants it & ask for a fill of petrol in return. Works grand, they get the rushes mulched, just do the labour themselves.

Mixture of fur bush and briars.

I have one of those machines. Used it on rushes this year. As far as I am aware it is important to take the cuttings off to reduce the nutrient level and the aim is for the grass to outgrow the rushes. Will be using it any dry days this year so that the soil gets a chance to dry up. Will know next year if it works. Planted alder in the area as well to aid drainage as they love wet areas.
