i have rented some land to a farmer for grazing, i told him id get back to him on the price, were good friends so there wont be arguements about money, but i wasnt able to find out what grass costs this year. It is a 10 acre field that was topped in july and stoped till the end of september when he started grazing it, and the other is a 14 acre field that was not topped but stopped since he grazed it in october. I ts good land for finishind cattle, golden vale, no wet patches, well fenced and had plenty grass on it.
What price range would that be in.
I work overseas most of the time in the last few months and havnt been able to meet farmers to know what grass is costing.
Any help would be much apprieciated.

how many times is he grazing it?

    did you fertilise it?

we got 25 an acre for a single grazing of unfertilised aftergrass and I think both us and the buyer were happy, good silage ground, recent reseeds, but poor enough growth this year.

my reading of what you have said is that he has grazed the fields once since September. €600 if this is the case

    thanks for the replies.
it is to be grazed till the cattle are housed. not fertilized, but plenty of grass. we've finished cattle on those fields without fertilizer or meal.
i was thinking about 25 an acre
