Starter Car - Run Around

I'm looking for a little motor for my bro to start learning to drive in plus for the family to use as a run a round to the shops and what not.

Was looking at a few fiat puntos, they seem a decent car and can get them cheap too, money is tight so was looking for one tops €1000. Needs to last a year or 2.

Not big on motors myself, so was wondering if anyone could advise, or if anyone has got a motor going cheap let me know.

    Cheers.

Micra around that price would be much better option, very reliable and well built little car. Very easy to drive and maintain aswell.

The micra is a great car, cheap to run and repair and cheap to buy! Winner all round. It's also a decent enough car to drive.

Another vote for either the 1.25 Fiesta of the Micra. The late 90s model Micra is a pretty nice little car to drive; doesnt feel as small inside as some other similar type cars.

Micra. If there was a nuclear holocaust the micra would still survive. Starlet is a good bet.

Fiesta isn't bad, the rust kills a lot of them though.
