Hi, in expecting a tablet to arrive from china during the week and I want to know what is the Dhl fee approx.?

I think I will have to pay around 25 euro import duty

It is a fixed value rather than a %. I think the max they can charge is €15. I think anpost are about €6 and DHL about €10-12.

EDIT: I was wrong, it is not fixed -see more posts below.

You sure about that? I stopped importing using DHL around 6 months ago but all my invoices are 2% of the charge collected. UPS charges a fixed amount which is why we switched once the order values increased. Could well have changed in which case might be going back to DHL!

Legally the handling fee can only be up to 15 EUR so percentage don't work for the handling fee once it would exceed 300 EUR. Could be a scale I guess but once again unlikely.

Import handling fees by DHL for import to UK: £1.25, or 2% of the import duty & taxes due, whichever is the greater.
Import ancillary service fees by FedEx vary on the country of import.
UPS charges include a disbursement fee of minimum $5, a transportation handling fee and a pre-release notification fee for import shipment

Well it could be 2% capped at €15 which would work. Never realised it was capped, must ring DHL in the morning, found them far better then UPS

Just off the phone with DHL, The guy got onto the driver and the driver told him that Customs have told him to bring back the package and he will do his best to deliver it monday.

To be honest I never heard that one before.

Once an item is released then it transferred to a depot and then loaded onto a van .

He said its a 'common thing' that has happened. My guess is that customs were not happy with the amount of VAT that i have to pay, even though DHL sent me a text saying I had to pay 20.88 Vat.

What is your item total cost including shipping ?

Tablet was 115.36 us dollars and I also got a 16gb Sd card which brought the total to 134.96 us dollars.

Shipping with DHL was $23.35 so the total was $158.31

It looks like 28/29 Euros vat + Dhl admin fee on the value provided .

Unless the package was undervalued by the seller but that is for another topic.

29 euro isn't too bad I suppose, depends what the dhl fee is

So I rang DHL again asking them if the VAT was going to be changed. The woman that I was talking to said my tablet did not go to customs but the truck had 'broken down' and will be delivered monday. So Jarren was right

She also said that 20.88 is the total that I have to pay ( Including Handling charge which is indeed 2%)
