Another good episode today. Peters abilities are looking pretty cool. I'm guessing the next step is total emotional detachment and loss of hair!

He already slipped up though, he knew how the other guy in the pocket came to be there (conversation with Walter in train) but Walter was the only person that knew that. He read Walters mind and used the info in conversation without thinking about it!

Perhaps that boy is the first observer.. actually obtaining his abilities through natural "evolution" rather than tech.

I'm a little confused about one thing though. As I understand it this timeline is still the one where Peter had been deleted and came back, but Olivia was the only person that remembered him as he was. Are we to assume that the others memory of him also returned with time? As I don't recall that being covered in an episode.

Peter's The One, eh? That fight seemed very Matrixy - from the blocks, the Observer wiping his mouth...everything.

Enjoyed Walter's bus/downtown vlogs. Love that man.

Very Matrixy fight between Peter and the Observer, was expecting a Neo 'come at me gesture':

Very good episode though and I guess this'll have to serve as our episode 19 this season.

    Walter was fantastic this episode.

Windmark definitely saw Peter in Observer mode. There seemed to be a bit of a smile on his face, too.

I'm glad I'm not the only one who thought that was a smile!

Hah, your post earlier wasn't there when I made mine yet I managed to post something very similar to yourself, including the use of Matrixy!

My head is quite fragile at the moment so I don't want to think about this too much but the first thing I thought at the end, Is Peter September?

Could be more likely that the boy is September but then temporal causality goes out the window due to September's interactions with them in the past directly leading to their interactions with September in his past.

Also, there was focusing on the posters again this week so I wonder if they do mean something more, there did seem to appear out of nowhere last week even if that was mainly down to camera angles.

I don't know what was going on with the poster thing but they certainly made a big deal out of them with long lingering shots for some reason.

Episode was called 'An origin story'. September's origin? "You don't even know what you don't know"

Doing a little reading around I see someone posted this scene.

I took the way they had to step/walk to get into the pocket universe as a tribute to the Ministry of Silly Walks sketch. :P

I was hoping when the talk of other universes came up, we might get to see the universe from the previous season's, but with just a few episodes left it's looking increasingly unlikely which is a shame.

I reckon Peter is the observer that helped them the last few seasons.
He went back in time or something.

    Another great piece.

Any significance in the fact that the doors were marked with the symbols we see at the end of episodes? Seahorse, apple, etc.

Do we actually know what happened to the Walterante universe? I know they closed the bridge in S4 and effectively blocked it off but there are other ways there. Was it invaded as well or was it just our universe?

    Very good!

Great to see Walter acknowledge he's becoming very Walternite since his brain was pieced put back. Some actor.

I can't remember when it was ever mentioned that the observers used tech? Still, with great power Peter etc etc. :)

Be interesting to see how Walters plan pans out; if he's to rid them of the observers, technically Pete (as Walter called him :)) would be one so plan means Peter has to die? revert to timeline where Peter never existed as a child?

That was a good episode, very fringey with the portal to the pocket there. Still waiting on that episode that blows me away this season, but overall it is pretty strong. I can't wait to see how this Peter story plays out(the fight was so badass) also if he teams up with Olivia's cortexiphany powers that would be awesome.

Walter this week again was brilliant. Such a shame that the emmys ignore the sci-fi genre for the most part because he deserves so much recognition for his performances. ( In fact they all do because they nearly all play 2 characters)

The posters of Etta are driving me mad. They made a big point of showing them in this weeks episode. There is no way the observers didn't know that Etta was part of the resistance if her face was plastered all over the city.
If they were put up after her death
it would have to have been almost immediately after because the next episode seemed very close in time. If it is a new timeline or whatever the writers are definitely ****ing with us because the intro hasn't changed, but it is very interesting none the less.

One theory is that the time line somehow changed after Peter tried to create the black hole. It's why the observers were back up and running so quickly or so it appeared that way. It's shortly after the scene with the wormhole that the lingering shots of the posters start. In the new time line quite a while has now passed since Etta's death and she has become somewhat of a martyr poster girl for the resistance.

Or maybe this is a new timeline and she never died. Maybe those in close proximity to the black hole were transported to the new timeline while still remembering the old (Peter and Olivia remember her dying). Perhaps Etta is actually a widely known figure head for the resistance operating underground in a bunker somewhere. They are really emphasizing those posters and there was an awful lot of reference to rebirth and the idea that nothing is permanent in Episode 4. They also haven't been in contact with anyone from the resistance since her death. (Except for Anneal who was with them at the black hole event).

The posters of Etta don't really make sense in the original (Ep 1-4) timeline anyway, she was a Fringe agent so she would not have been publicly known to be part of the resistance. Even after her death I don't think the posters would mean much to the general public. I'm thinking she has a very different history now.

I am expecting to see Etta again!

Actually, if Peter is getting the other Observer powers, presumably at some point he will be able to full on time-travel. Will he go back in time and save Etta?

I remember them mentioning that the torture (aging) device they used on the loyalist was designed to prepare the observers for time travel.

There has to be some cost to time travel though, some reason the observers don't do it all the time. If they were always able to do it then they could just travel back in time at any of the places they have been chasing the Fringe team and catch them...

It also has something to do with those canisters that burrow into the ground!

Last episode when implanting himself I thought the Matrix, I'm definitely thinking of it after this episode.

I know I'm late but intentionally left a load of episodes so I could watch back to back :p

I thought the kid would turn out to be September. Dont think it will be Peter, can see him dieing at the end of it all.

I also thought about the symbols on the doors but figured the writers decided to throw them in since they are used for the breaks etc. Dont think any more will come of them in the normal universe.

Peter's powers are awesome. Worth taking the chance with implanting the chip thing, but I expect Olivia to flip out when she finds out.

Great episode and wonder what exactly Peter saw at the end. I didnt really notice anything.
