    There is one like that in Mulhuddart where the N3 crosses. A truck was destroyed under it on thursday. Seen a few that had hit it just after, including the one on Thursday.

    A "if you hit this sign, you're going to hit that bridge" sign is needed:D

    When the truck hits it at about 47 seconds, just before the video shows a bent girder, the whole bridge can be seen bending up a little.

    There seems to be a dark coloured girder about a foot lower than the yellow warning sign and this is what is catching them out, good laugh though, most of the one's that got through just kept on going :)

    That wouldn't happen to a metric bridge.

    Why don't they dig the road down about a meter?

    Why don't they look out for the warning signs and flashing lights. ;)

    To answer the question it's not always feasible to dig down, there could be major work involved in relaying pipes etc, or the road could be susceptible to flash flooding after a downpour if there is a big dip in it. The flashing lights and signs are there for all to see, if you hit it, it's your fault, you've no one else to blame.

    Second worst in Ireland for these incidents

    Apparently Tara St in Dublin is the worst.

    The one on the East Wall Road in Dublin used to be hit very regularly but don't hear about it much lately. (Probably because of DPT and 5 axle ban).

    This is true but somehow people seem to be getting caught out repeatedly and prevention is better than cure.

    How about a some sort of device that when triggered by a vehicle that's too tall lowers a barrier that has

    'STOP! YOUR VEHICLE IS TOO TALL YOU IDIOT'

    written on it?

    I'd say, before the bang, a lot of the truck drivers were thinking -"I wonder what them flashing yellow lights mean?"

    Old one;

    Guy driving a truck in Derry gets stuck under the "blue bridge", PNSI officer comes over and say "what happened here", the drivers say "well i was just delivering this bridge when I ran out of petrol"
