Guys on Letsrun say she was pretty low down in testing and reckon she gets the gig based on her marketability. In fairness, there is an enormous amount of potential there when she learns it.

Anyway, smart move by US bobsleigh. We could do with more Lolo Jones characters in track and field.

Tianna Madison was in the other US bob. She apparently tested superbly first time out in trials.

Former track sprinters hopping in a bobsleigh is a common move now to try and find pushers, and obviously a lot more of an obvious move since Cool Runnings. Bit of explosive sprint power and then one of you that can drive and your flying.

Also bobsleigh is awesome, bloody scary the first time down the track, but sooo much fun.

Track athletes usually transfer well to bob. Colin Campbell (Jersey & GB) competed at both summer and winter Olympics. More recently our Lauren Therin packed up javelin and joined Nicola Minichiello in the GB1 team - before getting fed up of that as well.

Think it was the BBC stuck some former "other sports" people into bobs for a week a few years ago and then sent then to the UK bob championships. I think it was Dean Macey and Jason Gardner that then got a pretty respectable placing and then did some Wold Cup races the next season.

At the very least she's gonna look smokin' in the skin tight suit.

Quote from wikipedia about former 400m hurdles champ Ed Moses (2 Olympic Gold medals amongst loads of other achievements):

After his retirement from track, Moses competed in a 1990 World Cup bobsled race at Winterberg, Germany. He and long-time US Olympian Brian Shimer won the two-man bronze medal.

And before someone makes the usual smart comment that wikipedia can't be trusted, I am old enough to actually remember that.

Terry McHugh (Irish Javelin thrower) competed in the 4 and 2 man bob for Ireland in 92 and 98 games.

I wonder if the Hession or Gillick lads could be persuaded?

It's a bit different here. The US held trials at least. We just decided who got to be on the team and go on the training trips and to the events.

Ridiculous amount of Sports Council money spent on it.
