    Hi

I've been looking for a decently sized fuel efficient car. I've checked google for information re mpg but there's nothing that I've found that goes really before 2009. I've only a small budget for a car (no more than about €2500) so the car years I would be looking at would be more around the 2002 mark with maybe a couple of years at most either way. I'm on a provisional so a diesel is probably out of the question.

I'm well over 6 feet so I don't want a dinky little smart car or something, but budget wise I'd probably have to settle for some sort of hatch back. I was thinking of the focus but I'm worried it's not so fuel efficient. Cars that I have heard are good re mpg are the seat ibiza 1.2 but nothing more than that. Is the older generation scoda fabia any good re mpg? Does anyone know where there's anywhere I could find more information? Oh and advice on cars that are cheap to maintain re servicing parts reliability etc. ie I'd imagine a fuel efficient Japanese car might be expensive to repair if something goes wrong.

Wouldn't be my normal recommendation but what about a 406 D-Turbo?

Fuel efficient and fairly reliable. What sort of milage do you do per year and what do you have at the moment?

Fiat Panda. Cheap to buy, cheap to run and good space inside.

    autotrader.co.uk provides makers mpg figures

I not understand where Jap cars not cheap to repair come from, engine wise so many of the Jap cars not give trouble for most part. My 1995 Primera 1.6 mainly on factory assembly apart from brakes and service items, exhaust and tie rod ends.
