If you have an hour, watch this! It's awesome.
I didn't realise that planes get completely stripped down and checked every 6 years.

Yer manno going on about telling his kids at home he hung an RB211 today is a tad sad,Its far from glamourous working in a hangar on heavy maint checks,Im quite enthusiastic about my job but i've never seen or met anyone like that!! You would get torn to shreds by workmates over here!!!!

While it may not be glamorous to adults and/or those in the business.....for a little kid to know that "my dad fixes jumbo jets" must be a great feeling.

yes, I can just imagine the reaction if I went home and told my kids I'd been a legend of Chapter 38 today (toilets, removal, etc, etc). 99% of heavy maintenance is just routine stuff, grease this, change that. It's occasionally different or stimulating or really interesting, but not often.I get more enjoyment out of dealing with classic or homebuilt aircraft.
