HELLO, i think i prefer how i look in pictures without glasses and want to give daily disposables a go for nights out. Do i just need my eye test ? I went to buy them online and its asking for base curve or something and my eye test doesnt say that.

Maybe i need to get a test for contacts in a shop? What would be the cheapest way of doing that? Does anyone do free samples? im in dublin city centre, thabnks

You first have to do a contact lens assessment with your optician and then a teach. No optician will give or prescribe lenses without a teach. The assessment is usually around €25 and the teach is usually around €35-€45 depending on the practice. All the lenses used during the teach are covered in the teach price and this teach can involve 3-4 visits to the optician. Once the optician is happy that you can insert and remove your lenses without hassle will you be allowed to buy contacts.

don't try anyone else's contacts. I gave my bf (who worked in B&L mine and he gave me some samples) - nearly ruined my eyes

Jeebus noooo. You really need to get yourself to an optician and get a proper fitting. For starters, your glasses prescription isn't the same as your contact lens one. It's likely that a glasses one would be too strong. Then you get to the issue of the lenses themselves. There are all sorts of different lenses out there, depending on all sorts of things. The size of the person's eye, whether they've got astigmatisms etc. I'm mildly stunned that you'd even think to try out someone else's lenses to be honest.

Once your optician has prescribed lenses that fit you, then you can start looking at buying them online. But whatever you do, do not skimp on the most important step of the way. Comparing contacts to those halloween ones is like comparing apples and oranges. They're a novelty that people wear for a few hours to make themselves look unusual. Lenses to correct vision are a thing you will be wearing for hours on end and will be altering your vision so you can see where you're going.

Some can be, it depends how strong your prescription is I think. Stronger ones tend to be different for glasses or contacts.

As for getting contacts - definitely go to your optician. They'll ensure you get the right ones for your eyes and your prescription. They'll also make sure you can put them in and take them out properly - trust me, it takes a bit pf practice! ;)
