Mike Brown Fired

EDIT: apologies, didn't see that malistheman mentioned this in the nba regular season thread)

Just heard the news, pretty shocking to be honest....and not in a good way..

While I don't agree with some of Brown's decisions, I don't think that he should have been fired either. Changing coaches at this stage is gonna have a huge impact on the team.

In regards to the Princeton, it suits Kobe & Dwight fine, but it's not good for Nash at all, as evident from his last game. Even though they are ranked 6th offense, it's only cause Kobe & Dwight are carrying the team, ...if they go down due to injury, we're in serious trouble :(

Whats more worrying is the lakers defense....Brown was a defensive specialist, and the lakers were ranked at the bottom of the league! what's going to happen now?

To be honest, I'm almost doubting a playoff appearance at this stage...they will rebound, but will it be too late?

Between switching coaches, switching offense (possibly), injuries and team chemistry issues, I'm really worried. The bench sucks, and the main stars are aging, but will they be prevail, avoiding injury & fatigue?

    What do you's think?

(In other news, Ebanks arrested for DUI, hah)

I wish, ...oh how I wish.

    Edit:
Here's a nice article with possible candidates

Hmm I'm not so sure about D'antoni either, "Seven Seconds or Less" definitely won't suit this team...but at the same time, I'm sure Nash would be in his element ;)

    We'll soon find out.
    D'Antoni got the job.

Oh well, it's not Jackson, but sure who can live up to him?

    D'antoni's good enough for me,

Not exactly thrilled about this, both the sacking or the replacement.

Mike Brown had been able to get them playing reasonably well previously but that fell away a lot this year.

If he had indeed lost the players, then I think he had to go there and then, and leaving it later in the season would just make things worse.

Getting D'Antoni though seems, I dunno, like using the offence to cover over all of the existing and expected cracks on defense. Sure, howard is there, with MWP and Kobe so there are good defenders there but I don't have faith in D'Antoni to put in place a proper defensive system.

I'd expect the usual "new coach bounce" for a few games, get a lot of hype, make the playoffs and then get found out by a team that actually knows how to defend.

I would like to make a proposal that we, at the Basketball Forum, continue to call this clown Ron Artest whether he likes it or not... all in agreement, say 'aye'??
