Second hand purchase - warranty question

    Hi all

I'm looking at buying a second hand ford focus, 09/10 direction. Most stock is brought in from the UK by dealers. One guy is saying that if I take a 2010 from him, the UK dealer warranty is still valid as ford give a 3yr/60k mls warranty.

    A) does warranty carry over to a second owner?
    B) is a ford UK warranty worth the paper it's written on over here?
and C) does a certain strict servicing schedule have to be maintained to keep the warranty valid (obviously will need a good SH for me to buy anyways)?

    Thanks

Wont be much manufacturers warranty left even on a 10 reg, none on a 09 really

You'd want to verify mileage too as it may have passed 60k already

Warranties are usually for the original owner

They're usually on the car and transferable

OP, if the warranty is a Ford one (ie. a manufacturer's warranty on a car, rather than a dealer's promise) then it is valid anywhere in the EU.
There was a time a few years ago when a Main dealer would tell you to feck off with your imported car.....back then they were selling loads of new stuff and could live without your business, nowadays it's nearly all service and warranty work that's keeping the doors open.

As an aside a local dealer has given back 2 franchises, and is about to hand back his remaining 1, but will keep the spares and repairs business for all 3.

They're usually on the car, not the owner
