There are a few houses around me that must be burning tractor tyres the smoke is so bad:mad:, breathing in this smoke cant be having a positive effect on performance or even basic health, does anyone else get annoyed with this? The only time it isnt a problem is if I go for a run in the morning about 6:30 which is a great time to run but evening runs are polluted by smoke particularly in winter.

I get annoyed by this too but to be fair I only get it when I'm running along the canal as all the narrow boats seem to have fires 24/7. Don't have this from any houses or flats though but I live in London so the air in general is always a bit grim

Where are you living? One of the few good things Harney did when in Government was to ban certain bituminous and smokey fuels for domestic fires in Dublin. Outside Dublin the regulations don't apply and any thing goes as far as domestic solid fuel is concerned.

I'm thinking of organizing a run around Mallow town for anyone interested in picking up a nice smokers cough?
Thought I was gonna puke last night , the smoke got so heavy in certain parts of the town. Can't be right !?

That's because Mallow is a hole...
Sorry, I mean it's in a hollow, with a river flushing running through it.
The smokiest parts are because all of the smoke from higher up seems to get pulled down towards the river, so along by Supavalu is especially bad, there's a lot of houses around there.
I thought that everywhere was smokeless by now, but rural / country towns tend to have a lot of houses that burn turf and wood that hasn't been properly seasoned...and no, not with salt and pepper.
I'm not looking forward to late evening runs around there in the next few weeks.
Maybe a head torch and country roads might be better in the long run.
