Fuel Allowance Backdated?

    I didn't know I could apply but now I do and have missed out on this. I am struggling with everything and heating is definitely costing me a fortune. Will it be backdated?

    No. It's paid from the time you apply. You have to be in receipt of Welfare payments for 15 months before you can apply. Normally a form is sent out if you qualify, and it's paid from October to April.

    You can apply at any time.

    No, a friend of mine was told last week he was entitled to fuel allowance and got it this week, asked about it been backed dated and was told straight out NO!!! Sorry

    Like any welfare payment, you only get it from the time you apply.

    If you apply for JSB or JSA, you get paid from the time you apply. And any monies owed are backdated to this date. I dont know what your personal circumstances are. The exception is not necessarily the rule. For the majority of claimants the above applies. And fuel allowance is always only paid from the time of application.

    above posters are correct in regards fuel allowance, you need to have been in payment for 390 days and they will often send you out a letter and form if you meet this requirement. in any case you will only get paid from when you apply.

    This is crazy. Does someone who only signed on not feel teh cold like someone hows been on the dole 15months.

    a fuel allowance is crazy full stop. The benefits in this country are ridiculous.
