What kind of guns are you interested in? You mentioned the Masada but what else do you like the look of? It's no good someone saying "I'd recommend gun X" only for you to decide it's unwieldy or hideous.

That aside, I think the best thing you could do is go an airsoft skirmish or a retailer and see what's on offer, ask questions, etc. to find out what might suit you.

You want good internals, dont want to upgrade and want great performance out of the box then get a tokyo marui. Have a look on the asian sites on like redwolf and ehobbyasia and see what you like, you can get a retailer to import it or if you want buy it yourself I'm certain they all shoot below the 1 joule mark so customs should be fine but double check to be certain.

Tokyo Marui make great guns and the G&G Scar is a good gun out of the box, but if you want a Masada then I'd just go for it. I have the Magpul Masada and never had a problem with it out of the box, gave me good range and accuracy. I to was apprehensive after reading reviews but took the plunge and didn't regret it. The great thing about this gun is not only the upgrades you can do internally, but the amount of accessories you can buy, never ending list:D The gearbox setup is a high torque one and was designed for rough 400fps so the gears are quite robust, it has a micro trigger system for nice snappy trigger response and a quick spring change design (a baby could do it);)

I know you said you didn't want to upgrade internally but eventually we all do to some degree and this gun has some nice parts designed for it alone that will blow you away with performance.

I would say look around to, come back here, ask advice, but if the Masada is still the stand out gun for you, then go for it
