Thanks for that! I have just picked up the Volkl Gem for £129, I was looking for a park ski to try without breaking the bank.

Would you have a recommendation for bindings for this ski by any chance?

I know sport Conrad normally have deals on some high end pivot bindings. As do sportif.de

Just make sure the bindings have breaks wide enough for your ski waist

I was up in Belfast today and Decathlon have the Salomon LX800 on offer for £200. Cheapest I can see online elsewhere is £310. Might suit someone.

I saw this in Dundrum's Snow and Rock shop

    395 euro for;
    -Fischer Viron 2.2 & RS10 Bindings
-Salomon Mission 4 Men's ski Boots
    Ski poles and ski case

Is this a good deal does anyone know?

I'm an intermediate who has gone skiing for 8 or so weeks and I'd like to get a set of boots, but would also think about a set of skis

I had a look at a few of the sites above, and they seem to be bottom of the range, but might be decent as a starter kit.

If this isn't a good deal, where might others suggest for a similar intermediate package? Bear in mind I haven't gone through the process of getting skis & boots before.

    Cheers

I'd think you have already outgrown that set if you have 8 weeks under your belt.

Depending on your budget I would get the boots first and then think about skis.

As stated you're probably skiing at a level above that, is most of your skiing on or do you want to be able to go slightly off piste? When I Was getting my boots/skis, I got the boots one year and skis/poles the next, helps takes some of the financial sting out if it.

macannrb; Unless you are performing perfect Parralel turns and carving hard, these skis are fine.

In reality unless youa re skiing 3 weeks a year it is not really financially worth having your own skis. Spend a few quid on a good pair of boots instead.

I agree more important that the boots are comfortable than have skis
