Sharp LC46DH77E saorview issue

I bought this TV a few years ago and made sure it was MPEG4 capable at the time and presumed this also meant saorview compatible too.

Since ASO when we retuned to digital the TV now shows TV3, 3E and TG4 perfectly which is nice. But RTE1, RTE1+, 1RTE2 RTE Jnr and RTE News Now wont show at all. Sometimes only for a second or two and then the picture just goes dark.

Someone just told me that this set is not fully saorview compliant-which is really frustrating when it works on some of the channels and not the ones you really want to watch. Apparantly if I select the TV to hard of hearing which shows the words in text at the bottom of the screen the picture will then show fine.
Why does RTE not broadcast to smae standard as TV3??
A new tuner is not worth it so I am told.

Looks like I will be forced to get a cheap saorview box now which is a nuisance as the TV is hung up over the fireplace and I wanted it to be clutter free with only 1 remote to mind.

Looks like the same problem the Technisat Freeview HD receiver has/had with RTE. The conclusion reached in this thread was that it's just a software bug.

    Peter,

Yes looks like I am stuck with it from that thread!

Maybe I can watch RTE with subtitles nad the volume down!

    Thx

Rte channels wont even work when subtitles are switched on. The subbtitles appear alright but the screen stays dark with occassional sound.
