    Is running 4 miles in 45 mins slow? To me it is but can I get other people's opinions on here.

    It depends if you're a tortoise or a hare

    Its not fast, but depending on the person, their age, general well-being and how long they have been running, how much and what type of running and training they do, it might be a good time, or a slow time.

    Its all relative. For most of us, running is what we want it to be and all goals are personal.

    4 miles in 45 mins = 11min 15 sec per mile.

    Most people will walk a mile comfortably in 15 min, while the elite of the elite will run a mile in under 4 min. You are closer to the walking pace than to the fastest pace.
    But you can get faster.

    Its not me who im talking about here, but a person I work with and this person was boasting about it too and been cocky too. Funny thing is I am relatively fit and I ran 7 miles in 40mins before on a beach and I wasnt going around telling people how great it was. I always just wanted to improve next time.

    So you ran an approx. 35min 10K on a beach which would be approx sub 33 mins on road and you are complaining about this person boasting ???

    You wouldn't have any actual race results to back up the time other than that epic beach run ?

    :confused::confused:
    You say in your first post that you think that 4 miles in 45 mins is fast, and then you follow that up with ( to quote rom) the epic beach run of 7 miles in 40 mins; you must then consider yourself truly supersonic.

    :confused:

    Unfortunely no. I hope you arent joking me here because that was the fastest i did it. Im trying to be serious but Il let you make up your own mind for yourself. I am training 4-5 times a week and mix the training up to keep me going. The only running I do is on beaches as its better for my fitness. I take part in alot of different type of sports.

    I never said that. Read my post again. I asked for an opinion to confirm what I believed was correct. Why is everyone jumping down my throat so quickly?

    Ah, so you did.
    Didn't jump down your throat, I was genuinely confused. Read my post again - the smilies are the giveaway.
    Incidentally, that is a great time that you ran.
