A friend of mine is traveling to the US in the next few weeks and he was wondering if it was allowed to bring back perfume on the plane.
Have Google d for the answer regarding this question but have got contradicting results.

Hold luggage, yes. Hand baggage - only if equal to or below 100ml and treated as such (some cologne bottles etc are small enough)

In theory you could be liable for duty - I believe there's a limit on the amount you can bring in duty free.

If they buy it in the duty free it's fine.

If they buy it in the US in a shop then it needs to go in checked luggage as it's (probably) over the 100ml limit.

Only as long as they don't make a stop (i.e. London / Amsterdam) before arriving though; if there's a stop over they will need to follow any other liquid rules (only EU bought items are allowed with duty free sealed bags iirc).

You can transit through Heathrow with US bought tamper proof duty free bags. I done it a few times last year and actually I transferred through manchester on the way back from vegas with duty free too come to think of it!
