I wonder could anyone throw some light on this please? It appears that rte1,2 and tv3 and tg4 are not viewing properly (kind of flashing green and red every 3 seconds ) very annoying! All the rest of the channels are fine. I have not got a saorview box or anything else connected to my tv. Oh and another thing is that when I press back up from the said channels the menu screen is flashing but it doesn't flash when I exit from any of the other programmes.

is the tv connected via scart to the sky box?
if so try re seating the scart lead on both ends.

I'm having a similar issue. Since last night the Irish channels have all been going black and white intermittently. As soon as you switch channel to any of the non-irish stations everything is OK again.....
Scarts are as tight as they could be without breaking something. DVD is in colour. Switched to DVD scart socket and had same issue. Switched to old cable connection and it's also in black and white from time to time.

Having the same B&W problem with the Irish channels here but only on an older model tv about 6 years old. Has to be something to do with the big turn off.

Have exactly the same symptoms as described by Brousuka. Last night also (first noticed it then). All "non-Irish" channels perfect.

My parents are having this problem since last night. They have the white sky plus box and all non-irish channels are fine

Right, I rang sky tonight and the lady told me that they would send a new signal to my dish within 10mins to 4 hrs. As of now which is just over 4 hours- nothing has changed- still the same flashing on the local Irish channels. She did mention btw that there were issues with some customers getting only a black and white picture as mentioned above but my screen is flashing with a red light every couple of seconds rendering it impossible to watch anything really. I will update ya all tomorrow when I next turn on my telly! All scart leads are perfect btw.

Exact same thing happening to me since Wednesday evening. Constant red/green screen flickering every few seconds. Only affects the Irish channels everything else is perfect.

Strangely enough if you record what your watching and play it back the picture is perfect! Phoned Sky yesterday and they told me they had a few calls about this and to wait until today to see if it's fixed. It's not!

There is a thread on this on the Sky forum also on their website, seems there is a lot of people with the issue, a poster said it was to do with the picture settings not been on the RGB setting that they are on PAL, some people tried it though and it did not do anything for their issue, also they were saying they were using the white sky+ box not the HD one.

Yeah I tried the RGB thing too and have neither the sky+ or HD box. The fact that it's only affecting the Irish channels makes it seem like a very specific issue. Unless Sky boxes need to be upgraded to deal with some new ultra cutting-edge signal being pumped out from our broadcasters. Perhaps RTE are broadcasting Killinascully in 4D? That would explain the out-dated jokes anyway. :)

Yeah my TV keeps trying to change from PAL to SECAM and then back again whatever that means. Very stranage that if you watch the recordorded programme you will be unaffected but can't watch it live without the flicker.

Anyone got a link to the other thread? I can't find it.

OP here, it's all sorted now! Just put on the tv to check and everything fine now.

I had the black and white screen on the local channels too. It seems to be better now but now I'm getting a blue screen saying that there is no satellite signal on lots of different station, it comes and goes. Has anyone else experienced this.

In my case all other channels were perfect just the local Irish ones were the problem. You need to call sky.

Found that I had not reconnect the second satellite cable properly. Only one signal coming through. Fixed now so we'll see how it behaves.
